Vienna is getting into everything... She is very hands on and has a strong impulse to figure things out, or she just likes making huge messes. Both Kyle and I were curious kids and liked to take things apart, ect. (My parents may prefer the word "destructive" LOL. :P ) So I think we are in BIG trouble when it comes to Vienna's curiosity.
Being a mom I've learned three things...
First, having a 20 month old who is over 3 feet tall is a challenge. She can reach things that most children her age can't. She can see what is on all counters and tables, and then find a way up there.
Second, with no one to distract her while I am busy, she WILL find something to do that usually involves me standing with my hand over my mouth when I return to the room.
Third, I've just got to deal with them one at a time.
This brings us to two nights ago. I've been sharing Vienna's closet, her stuff and my art stuff. (We will be moving my art stuff to the garage this weekend.) She found a bottle of Calligraphy ink, opened the lid and dumped it ALL out onto the carpet. ALL of it. Not a drop was left in the jar, and it was a barely used jar of black ink. She had her hands in it and was finger painting on a cardboard box of baby wipes. All this happened in about 2-3 minutes. I put my hands in my hair and said, "Ok, Babe bath time." We're still trying to get the ink out of the carpet. This one isn't funny yet, maybe some day we'll tell her about it and laugh.
Now we are at today. While making lunch I peeked around the wall and saw Vienna's hand in the vent... Great I think...
"What did you drop down there, babe?"
"Whaatss dat?"
I peek down there, but it's to dark, I grab a flashlight and take another look. Vienna laughs her excited laugh when she sees what's down there.
I took this with my cell phone after, but it looks better here. :P
Down the vent just out of arms reach is about 5 or 6 pencils and crayons. Hair ties, chap stick, a couple toys and paper. Kyle is going to be so thrilled to wake up and have to fish all that out. Hehe. I'm thinking she's been dropping stuff down there for a while. (Go ahead Ma and Papo, laugh it up! ) :P What goes around comes around. I did this exact thing with my brother. I blame Jeremiah.

I am laughing sooooooo hard that I'm falling off my chair!!!! I'm sorry that my fun is at your expence, but this is just over the top funny. She is truly about the busiest, cleverest, and energetic 20 month old I've known. I think Kyle was so busy with his brothers and getting into their toys, that there wasn't that much distruction to the house. Well, maybe I'm just not remembering; like the time when he carved KYLE into the living room window sill or the time when he got hold of the sissors and gave himself a "haircut". I don't think he was as young as Vienna, though.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, keep her as busy as possible and give her hugs and kisses from grma.
Sorry, Kyle, the rug is probably stained for good, just like my window sill. And yes, now I smile whenever I see it and cherish the memories as you will too in time.
Love 'n hugs,
grma me
It is amazing to me how fast kids can get into mischieve. They can tear apart anything in a matter of minutes. You swear that you just turned your back on them for 2 seconds yet they managed to destroy the entire room! They have some super power that enables them to perform spectacular feats of destruction in almost no time. And when they get caught they just give you this totally innocent expression that makes you feel like a jerk for getting mad at them! Other times you just shake your head and laugh - And grab the camera ;)
