River Ness flows right through Inverness.
River Ness isn't very deep and is very clear. We saw a Scottish man fly fishing and it made me think of my dad, and all the times he would go fly fishing in Colorado.
Inverness is divided in half by River Ness. The bridge is called Ness Bridge, we walked over this bridge several times a day.
Here is our Hotel, Columba Hotel. We've enjoyed staying here. We booked a bed and breakfast plus dinner package, and the dinner's have been out of this world amazing. We've eaten so well the last 4 nights that I have no idea how we will manage when we leave to Edinburgh and are on our own for dinners.
River Ness flows from Loch Ness.
We took a short day trip ride (about 15 miles) to the town of Drumnadrochit. (pronounced drum-na-drock-it) Love that! We went here to see the Loch Ness on a boat ride. It is a cute village.

This is the view from the bus stop... amazing!

Notice the bottom of the green sign... hehe.

Drumnadrochit Isn't it charming. I just love this. I could totally live here.

Stone borders line all of the roads. It's like something out of a fairy tale.

Vienna and Nessie!

On Loch Ness. I really couldn't stop smiling. I have never been so thrilled to be on a boat. Kyle said I didn't stop smiling the whole time. Nessie stayed hidden, but I didn't mind. I had a great time.

We went on a 10 am boat ride, so thankfully there was only 4 other people on the tour with us. There was plenty of room to move around. It even started lightly raining. Everyone went into the cabin of the boat and I had the whole outside of the boat to myself! LOL I was thinking to myself, "I came here to see Loch Ness, I'm not sitting inside!"

The Loch Ness is about 23 miles long, and very narrow when compared to it's length, a mile wide. Deer sometimes swim across it and get mistaken for Nessie. Loch Ness contains more fresh water than all lakes in England and Wales combined. The eerie thing about Loch Ness is it's depth, it averages around 600 feet, but is over 750 feet in places. It is quite freaky to look into because the water is so dark. On this day we couldn't see more then a couple feet into the water. It has a dark, dark green color.

Urquhart Castle is 2 miles from Drumnadrochit on a rocky peninsula on the banks of Loch Ness. After a chequered history, the building was blown up in 1692 to prevent it becoming a Jacobite stronghold. Click here if you are interested in reading more.

It must have been a sight before it was destroyed.

A brave Swan. The depth of the lake is what freaked me out... it is insane to think of what lies beneath. lol

Uncle Ted lived & worked in Scotland on an oil rigger when he was young. He loved it too, and would have stayed if he could have. It looks wonderful! We are so happy you are enjoying yourselves. We watched a show on Bigfoot and thought of you in Scottland and old "Nessy". We are looking forward to your being home and getting to see you and hear all about your trip. Safe traveling, we love you and we'll see you soon. lv, mom me
