Barcelona, Spain

Spain has been an amazing place. We’ve adjusted well and are having a great time. Very little English is spoken here, and I am surprised that my limited Spanish has come in handy. Using just one or two Spanish words here and there has really helped us along the way. We have one full day left to explore Barcelona. It is very humid here; Vienna and I’s hair is super curly now. It is hot and humid all day and night. Even at 4 am. Between 2 PM and 5 PM most things shut down for Siesta, which is nice because that is the hottest part of the day. We can’t get dinner until 8 PM at the earliest, and 8 PM is early for Spain, other parts of Spain don’t eat dinner until 10 PM or later! I really see the genius behind siestas. People here look healthy and fit. They do a lot of walking in Barcelona.

The people of Barcelona are very friendly. We are greeted with “Hola” when entering places, walking past someone and even when entering the elevator. The most amazing thing about Spain for me has been seeing where my ancestors came from on my dad’s side. Seeing the similarities in people has been amazing. I swear I have seen my grandma Atencio here about 5 times. :P There isn’t as large of a Spanish population as there is Mexican in the States. So it’s been amazing to see people who look like my family. Seriously, familia you could all come here and blend right in. I wish you all could be here now. Here is some pictures to share some of what we have seen.
